The greatest investment you could ever make is to teach your child (children) about the love of God through the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. By sowing the seeds of the Gospel in your child’s heart daily you are securing the best and brightest future for them.
1 John 4:10 declares, “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
God’s love is so amazing! There’s no sin too great that His love can’t forgive. There’s no pain too deep that His love can’t heal. There’s no place too far that His love can’t reach. There’s nothing that could ever change His love for us. And there’s nothing in this world that can ever separate us from His love.
God’s love for us led Him to send His only Son into the world to die for our sins so we could live a debt free life. Jesus paid a penalty He did not deserve so we could live a life free of guilt, shame, and fear of eternal punishment. Although salvation is free we still owe God our lives. The ministry of motherhood is one of the ways you can devote your life to God and show gratitude for all He has done for you.
So start making investments that have a lasting impact on your child’s life now and forever! Make regular deposits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. Check the account balance often and pray for God to give the increase! Prayerfully, you will begin to see the fruit of your labor in your children’s lives.
Here are some biblical and practical ways to sow good seeds on the fertile ground of your child’s heart:
🌱Sow the seeds of the Gospel. Talk to littles about how Jesus came to die for our sins and was brought back to life three days later. Talk about the empty tomb and how the resurrection gives us hope for the future. Watch preschool Bible videos and read a good children’s Bible.
🌱Sow seeds of the Kingdom. Read the parables Jesus taught about the kingdom of God like the Parable of The Sower in Matthew 13. Pair a spring activity with the parable. For example: Plant a seedling and watch it grow over a period of time. Talk about the factors that help the plant grow. Compare the sun’s light to the light of Christ. Show kids how their faith can grow like the seedling which eventually becomes a sprout.
🌱Sow seeds of gratitude. Give thanks in all things and encourage your children to do the same often. Thank God for the gift of Salvation and eternal life and explain this to littles in a way they can understand. For example: Play a game where kids have to rescue a taped toy or a lost toy animal. Pair this game with a parable Jesus taught about how God’s love reaches the lost sinner.
🌱Sow seeds of biblical love. Lead by example and show kindness, patience, understanding, compassion, mercy, and consistency in everyday life. Use hands-on activities, the Bible, and Christian picture books to teach kids the attributes of God’s love found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
🌱Sow seeds of true worship. Honor and worship God from a pure heart and repent of your sins daily. Ask the Lord to cleanse your heart and keep it pure. Pray with your children often and encourage them to do the same.
🌱Sow seeds of praise. Sing songs to God often and encourage your children to praise God with instruments you create or buy from the store. Don't set a time limit and focus on creating an atmosphere of praise in your home.
🌱Sow seeds of discipline. Be consistent in your prayer life, Bible study, and worship. This private discipline will affect your public life and decisions. Your children are watching so strive to do all things with the right Spirit. Discipline your kids with patience and understanding. Maintain a simple play or homeschool routine, set limits and healthy boundaries.
